JVR, man CF does have some leverage here, do the right thing. Trade if no sweetener, besides maybe 2 mil of cap, or wait to the TDl, I would think they could get a mid to late pick, depending on his stats to date and the cap at that point

Why move JVR at all? If you do you are absolutely going to have to retain $$ or sweeten deal..Flyers arent winning anything next year and likely arent making the playoffs so keep JVR hoping he has a good season. If he does you may get a 3rd for him at deadline and his salary is off books for next yr.

Really what I said above, CF does have leverage, he can tell other GMS, hey I’ll wait till deadline or make me a reasonable offer.
Really have to write as if JVR will be traded as we know CF will trade him
JVR needs to play like he did 2 years ago and not last year, It looked disinterested this past year, but the prior I thought was one of his best seasons, at least in Philly. If so than he's definitely got value at the TDL, although no one picked up Kessel this year at the deadline and that was a surprise.

Lol, the other GMs don't want JVR until the TDL, if they even want JVR at all.
If JVR gets moved before the season, it will probably be a cap dump that requires the Flyers to give something up. Or it will be a swap of bad contracts.

Trust me, a bad team with cap room will take him for nothing now to sell high at the deadline.
We might as well hang onto him until the deadline tho. We aren’t going to do anything smart with the cap space.

While not easy for sure, you could get a team who needs to get to cap floor, needs goals, we know that is what fans want to see and is just looking for a one year commitment,

Only reason Kessel wasnt picked up was because no team wanted to break his iron man streak and guarantee him that he would play every game. Otherwise he would have been picked up.

Fedotov is set to be the first in the 21st century to defect or die.
Whata world!
file under category we can't have nice things... - konalover711
Yeah, a lot of guys are getting picked up over there since they recently mandated conscription to all men 40 and under. I mean, 40?! They sure want a lot of people on hand.
Dunno how this all works out with the pros over here. I assume they’re grandfathered in somehow.

Very few teams need help to reach the cap floor and can do that by signing their own players and maybe a UFA or two of their own choosing. No team wants to help other teams gain cap space by taking a cap dump for free. There are way more teams wanting to make cap space than teams with a lot of cap space so either teams will have to give up good players for very little or they will have to pay to get rid of contracts they don't want anymore.
There is also a team like Arizona that is always willing to take on cap hits for a price but they want contracts that actually pay the player almost nothing in actual money or guys they can put on LTIR and let the insurance company pay 80% of their contract. Given the little arena they will play in for the next few years, i'm sure they want to save as much money as possible on players.

You might be right or….you might actually for once in your life be wrong. Unless you’re sitting in on all the GM meetings and all the GMs openly rejected him by name under any circumstance. Even Lucic was moved and you can’t get any worse a deal then that.

Point of my post was CF doesn’t have to add to move JVR, he needs to go in telling other teams he will wait. No way you can or I can know who will want JVR and why. I do know he is only owed 4 mill real money, that they can hold part of that, that he will put up 25 goals, that if healthy he can be moved by whomever has him at the TDL.

By the TDL, that number will drop, too. I could see someone take him if he’s only owed a mil or so down the stretch.
Then he’s a FA. Not the worst rental for a competing team with a run in them.
I wouldn’t expect a nice return, but anything to build upon is a positive.

He more than likely would have to add to move him before the season if he wants to free up cap space to do something. At the deadline then no he probably won't but JVR still has to have decent season and not be injured or you likely get nothing for him then either.
My point was mainly that teams aren't looking to do capped teams favors for nothing just to reach the cap floor. There are only 4 teams (Arizona, Buffalo, Detroit and Anaheim) that are more than 6 million from the cap floor. All the teams have players to re-sign to help get much closer or above the cap floor. Those teams will also be looking to UFAs to improve and you can easily spend 10 mil in cap space on a couple of mid tier guys to round out the roster or add some depth. With teams like Vegas and Tampa above the cap, teams like Toronto, Edmonton, Boston ect... that need to clear cap space so they can add the depth they need or improve their rosters to compete for a cup, there are a lot more teams wanting to clear cap space than teams with cap space that are willing to take bad contracts. Teams with cap space will only give something (likely less than market value) for players they really want or they will ask for prospects and picks to compensate for taking a player they don't really need or want. Supply and Demand and right now the demand for cap space is much greater than the supply of teams willing to give teams cap space by taking contracts they want to get rid of.
Would like the Flyers to bring in a young offensive assistant who they can groom to be a head coach. A pp guru.
Maybe Brunette isn’t such a long shot with his connection to Chuck. Can’t see him staying in Florida. There is a path to take over this team though he may not want to wait 4 years.
According to reports from Russian news outlets on Friday, Fedotov was arrested at a St. Petersburg hockey rink and taken to an army enlistment office. Young Russian men are required to complete one year of military service.
Honestly, this team cannot catch a break, not at all! They draft a guy that could be the next big goalie in the NHL and the pipeline is cut off. Can't say I didn't see this coming though.

I don't see Brunette as a PP guru, not in the least after how the Florida PP withered done the stretch of the season and died in the playoffs. It certainly wasn't a talent issue in Florida, so you kind of have to look at the coaching there.
